What to make your love for Valentine’s Day breakfast? Soda bread, of course! This recipe screams love. So much love that it is welcome every day after Valentine’s Day. And since this bread is so easy to make, I threw together a homebrewer’s version on Sunday night using spent grain flour from our Armistice Brew Co. Dark Saison. Because true love deserves a dinner of Irish soda bread and Champagne. Serve with Earth Balance and pure maple syrup to really pump up the flavor.
Where's the beer on this cooking and homebrew blog? I know, we have been slacking on posting about our homebrews from Armistice Brewing Co. But rest assured, we have certainly been drinking plenty of it. And we just brewed this Amber Ale again last week. Pale ales are a staple in our household, and Steve has been trying to get me more into the malty and darker ales. So this was his attempt to bring me over to the dark side - an amber ale with lots of hops to appease my need for the bitter, floral flavor. I'm not quite proud to admit this, but a keg of this amber ale is certainly one of the fastest draining in our house. Summary: ABV ~ 6.7%, Hop Profile: Pine Malt, Profile: Caramel/Biscuit
Last weekend Steve and I went to Revel in Atlantic City for our friend’s birthday. Its been so long since I got all dressed up and went clubbing, and I was suffering from a pretty nasty cold. But I rallied and pulled it together to celebrate our friend turning a quarter century. His girlfriend got us a room at Revel, booked dinner reservations for 8 people, and had VIP bottle service set up at HQ Nightclub. The night was fantastic, and I feel like we really rung in his birthday right. That being said, I am still recovering one week later…
You don’t actually have to watch the Superbowl to enjoy Superbowl Sunday and the snacks involved. We enjoyed our Superbowl snacks while watching the Kitten Bowl on Hallmark Channel, cheering on the adorable kitties as they batted a tiny ball around a miniature football field. It was glorious.
I had grand plans for my very first blog day. I planned on getting up early, shopping for the freshest ingredients I could find, and leisurely cooking in a sparkling clean kitchen. My plan was perfect, but I failed to take one thing into consideration – I couldn’t have any less motivation on Sunday mornings. None. I usually spend hours stretched out on the couch, snuggled up with Tonks, and drinking coffee into the late afternoon while watching episode after episode of Malcom in the Middle.
